Ayous Strat

Built as a more budget-friendly guitar to offer for sale. This strat features a solid Ayous body and a 22-fret Maple neck with eco Rosewood fretboard. Ayous (Triplochiton scleroxylon) is a wood species distributed throughout west and central Africa and more commonly known as African Whitewood. It is light for a hardwood with resonance similar to Alder, and used has been used by Gibson in past Flying V and Explorer models and Fender Japan to produce limited edition guitars.

Rosewood is now an endangered species, being richly hued, expensive and over-exploited in both the guitar-building and furniture-building industries especially in the far east. There are now restrictions on the import and export of Rosewood in more than 183 countries. Though Rosewood can still be legally obtained, Eco Rosewood made from various wood species and gives the tonal, aesthetic and structural qualities of Rosewood but in a way that is far more sustainable. It feels identical when oiled with lemon oil or other fretboard oils.

Wood aside the guitar is outfitted with a white pickguard, three single-coil ceramic pickups, standard pot and switching configuration and chrome hardware. The finish was Crimson guitars Penetrating Oil over 320-grit sanded wood with no fine sanding of the oil coats. Coats were applied until the oil began to appear on the wood surface, after which a further two coats were applied to build up a finish.
